Yesterday I heard research that humans do not start developing memories until a minimum of 18 months old (that is 1 year and 6 months for those of you without children). Our family has chosen to whole-heartedly disagree with this theory. Instead, for Arbor Illeana Ross’ 1st birthday, we’re going to pull all the stops like a Dutch damn!
It’s party time!
Mixing joy and sadness family members from the Ross, Matos, and Baker/Watkins tribes gathered at the McCranie Lodge in Chauncy, GA to celebrate 3 monumentous occasions: Arbor’s 1st year of existence, the 80th birthday of Kathleen Baker, and our departure for the Left Coast.
From the moment Cristina and I sat across from Regina in our small 1 bedroom apartment in Macon, GA to tell her Cristina was pregnant we have received every effort of support from all our loved ones. Patricia Baker given us the gift of rest and relaxation at the end of weeks at our wits end, Toni, Jim, and Mariella have always been pioneers willing to share the travails of parenting before we ruin our child, and all the aunts have kept us vigilant as they constantly offer to “steal” Arbor.
I do not wish to sound overly affectionate in an online capacity, but if words continue to be the means to convey my affections I certainly will. It will suffice that I say that we love you all, friends and family. Thanks eternally for all the experiences you’ve granted our us.
